Another of the finest courses on the island & ideally situated on the North East coast of Batam Island at Nongsa lies the Tering Bay Golf & Country Club. On your arrival you will be greeted by the pleasant staff who will allocate a caddy & take care of your clubs immediately whilst you get changed in the well equipped changing rooms. The view from the clubhouse is spectacular over the rolling course down to the sea. Former number one Greg Norman designed the Tering Bay course, it is a very beautiful and playable 18 hole par 72 course set amidst hills, lakes and lush tropical greenery. Looking at the score card, especially from the white tees boxes with only 5491 meters the course seems awfully short â donât let that, however make you overconfident. Along the way you will find out that playing this course requires concentration at all times. The par 5 second, par 4 fifth, par 5 eleventh, par 3 fifteenth and the par 4 sixteenth feature tricky water hazards. Especially on holes 5 and 15, these water hazards are coming into play from the tee box. Hole 9 is the stroke index I hole, while the closing hole on the back nine, a 400 metre uphill par 4 is the second most difficult hole on the curse. The course is the centrepiece of the Tering Bay Golf Country Club on a site of over 160 hectares overlooking the waters of north Batam. The design brief was to ensure the Tering Bay golf course would be a fair and enjoyable test for golfers of all levels as well as stern tests for the professionals. In Greg Normans words ⌠âPlaying the Tering Bay Golf & Country Club will be a breathtaking experience for golfers of all abilities. I have designed some heroic, go for itâ shots across many of the water hazards. But in most places I have also tried to ensure players may choose an easier approach to the green.â Club facilities include Golferâs Lounge â for resting before or after a game with TV and Air Conditioning. Club Hire LOS ANGELES AP â For much of the past century, the Los Angeles Country Club was quite literally a hidden Los Angeles grew from a warm-weather outpost into a global metropolis, this picturesque golf club sat in one of the cityâs most dazzling settings â 325 acres of multibillion-dollar real estate adjoining Beverly Hills, a few miles from the Pacific. Yet its two courses were rarely seen by anyone except its wealthy members, who cherished privacy and exclusivity over anything the outside world could diamond in the surprisingly playable rough has gradually revealed itself to eager eyes in the 21st century, and its gleam will be fully on display when it hosts the 123rd Open that starts the first Open in 75 years in Los Angeles, a thriving golf town that finally gets an event worthy of its status. The worldâs best players and a global audience will see whatâs been hiding among Holmby Hillsâ mansions to the north and the Century City skyline to the south, just a short walk from Beverly Hillsâ Rodeo Drive shopping McIlroy is among the pros eager for the unveiling.âI canât wait,â McIlroy said. âI think itâs going to be one of the best Opens thereâs been for a while.âThe club was founded in the 19th century, and the North Course has been a respected, coveted venue since 1911. The Open marks the LACCâs debut as a major host, and Golf Association tournament director Charlie Howe thinks everyone will be as impressed as he was when he moved to town in January 2022 to lead preparations for the event.âI was blown away the first time I stepped foot on this property,â Howe said. âJust how beautiful this is, where it sits, you just kind of have that moment. You have vibes of being in a major city, but then you have this beautifully landscaped golf course that gets to have eyes on it for really the first time. Itâs just an inspirational moment for the community here and for the future of the game.âAfter decades as a bastion of exclusivity, the club is now hosting golfâs most democratic event. The clubâs attitude changed with the generations, and the LACCâs opening began with smaller events like the Pac-12 championship in 2013 â won by LA-area native Max Homa with a North Course-record 61 â and the 2017 Walker wonât need any Maps to the Stars to see famous homes on this trip to LA. Scottie Scheffler is among the pros who heard about the LACCâs neighbors during the Walker Cup.âSome pretty expensive real estate in there,â Scheffler said. âItâs like a country club in the middle of town, but itâs a world-class golf course. And itâs in Beverly Hills. Youâve got Lionel Richieâs house right there. It was wild. The Playboy Mansion is back there by the 14th tee. We had local caddies that told us this stuff.âBut the vintage setup comes with challenges for a modern audience. The Open is more frequently staged on suburban courses with plenty of room â not right off heavily trafficked Wilshire Boulevard and near the perpetually car-choked 405 Rahm visited the club in Los Angeles around the time the Open date was announced in 2015, and he recalls two immediate thoughts âHow the heck are they going to fit anything around here, and second of all, how are we going to get around the traffic in this place?ââGolf course-wise, yeah, the golf course is very high quality,â Rahm added. âThe golf course could host any event you want. But itâs just logistically, to me, it was the hardest part to understand, especially after playing Opens and seeing everything that comes to it. But they do have a second 18, so Iâm guessing theyâre going to take a lot of that room. Is it weird? No. Is it exciting? Yes.âHowe and his team say they have overcome the logistical problems presented by the tight setting, from parking to crowd control to amenities for the Openâs corporate sponsors and regular fans alike. The USGA proved the Open could work under similar circumstances when it staged the 2013 event at Merion Golf Club, the compact institution in Philadelphiaâs Main Line suburbs. Shortly afterward, the LACC secured the 2023 event.âWeâve always been enamored with this golf course, and hold it in the same level of the American golf clubs like Shinnecock Hills, Oakmont Country Club, Pebble Beach and the other iconic venues,â Howe said. âWe just hadnât had the opportunity recently to consider a site like this because of the challenges of where it sits within Los Angeles, and it being kind of landlocked, and to think about getting people here, the logistics, all of those things that go into hosting a major event.âLos Angeles can be an intimidating market for event organizers, both for its large population and its big-city red tape and regulations, according to Kathryn Schloessman, the President and CEO of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment organization helps events to cut through those barriers, and she thinks Los Angeles was long overdue for this spotlight. The Riviera Country Club has long coveted an Open, but the USGA has wanted the LACC for decades.âLA has always been a place people love to come out and play golf, but we had such a drought for so long without major championships,â Schloessman said. âWe tried for many, many years to get the Open here. I donât know if they just didnât understand LA, but itâs just itâs nice to see the change in perception by the USGA of Los Angeles.âThe Open is a golf breakthrough for Los Angeles, and more big events are following The Riviera will host the golf competition at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, and the Womenâs Open will be at LACC in 2032 before the men return to the same course in the Open next week heralds the official return of big-time golf to the nationâs second-largest city, and Los Angeles is ready.âYou always want to have an event come back with a big splash,â Schloessman said. âI think thatâs why theyâre continuing to bring more events out here and really recognizing that they missed the boat for a number of years in LA, and this is a great golf market.â___AP Golf Writer Doug Ferguson contributed to this golf and Designedby the famous golfer, Greg Norman, Tering Bay Golf & Country Club offers 18-hole par 72 courses for fellow golfers. Located in the beautiful Nongsa, Tering Bay Golf provides the most astonishing view of the bay north of Batam and Singapore strait. Tering Bay Golf centers the attraction with water in the middle of the golf park Tering Bay Golf and Country Club, is an 18 hole, par-72 golf course, playing at a maximum length of 6405 metres. Although there is a choice of tee boxes, making it playable for golfers of all abilities. The course features plenty of lush vegetation, as one would expect from an island in this region and there are lovely views of Tering Bay, to be enjoyed throughout a round. The main hazard on the course is water, in the form of a number of lakes. These present a number of options throughout a round of golf at Tering Bay, with the choice of taking them on or laying up. In terms of risk/reward, there is plenty to think about on each hole and mistakes can be costly but good shots, very well rewarded. As with any Greg Norman designed golf course, there are plenty of large bunkers, many of which are deep, with fine sand. Areas of the course can be quite hilly and being an island, wind can also play a part during a round at Tering Bay. The fifth hole is worth as mention, as the elevated tee box makes for a downhill drive but water crosses the fairway, just at the typical landing spot, about 200 yards in to the hole. Therefore, players are faced with a choice of laying up before the water or attacking it and driving the ball over the hazard. In terms of facilities, there is a club house, although this is nothing special by todayâs standards. In addition, thereâs a restaurant, coffee shop, driving range and putting green. Itâs possible to stay in close proximity to Tering Bay Golf and Country Club, on the island of Batam but with excellent connections to Singapore, many people choose to stay there and make the short and convenient trip across the bay.Detailed Reviews Reviews order informed by descriptiveness of user-identified themes such as cleanliness, atmosphere, general tips and location 2023 ⢠FriendsCourse was very ordinary.
